You talk about “decentralization as infrastructure for trust.” How did that show up in the hackathon projects, concretely?

Decentralization is another word I see everywhere. I want to know how it’s used beyond marketing.

In this sprint, decentralization had a few very practical faces:

  • Investra (Maverick) uses blockchain and smart contracts so the pipeline from AI-generated analysis → community review → public release is transparent and auditable. You can see who approved what, not just trust a central gatekeeper.

  • Oríkì gives communities control over their cultural data—who can access it, how it’s used, and under what rights. That’s decentralization of ownership and governance, not just infrastructure.

  • More broadly, the article frames decentralization as the way to ensure AI is locally owned, auditable, and based on real consent and provenance.
